Introduction of Boao Forum for Asia
Character
Non-government, non-profit international organization which holds meetings on a regular basis at a permanent site.
Object
Asia-based, deepen the economic communication, harmonization and cooperation among Asia countries; also a globally envisioned forum strengthen the dialogue and economic connection between Asia and other regions in the world.
Provide a platform for political, business and academic leaders for dialogue on economy, society and other problems.
Provide service for the gradually enlarging economic cooperation between members and nonmembers through the work net which established by the FBA and political, business and academic circles.
Blueprint
Efforts are made to develop the BFA into a high-standard forum and to accelerate realization of the development goals of Asian countries through further integration of the regional economy.
Mission
Enabling the blueprint to come true, the forum will struggle to fulfill the following missions:
To provide government officials, commercial leaders and celebrated scholars with a platform for high-level talks, to strengthen and deepen trade and investment connections, to promote establishment of partnership relations, and to make clear one's point of view in response to global economic challenges.
To strengthen the mutual understanding of cross-culture exchanges, and to consolidate the social responsibility of the private groups in this region.
To create a sound environment, to intensify the harmonious coexistence between commercial groups in pursuit of growth and development, and to realize sustainable development of the local economy.
To cultivate and reinforce the concept of the networking mechanism and strategic alliance in the region, and to increase trade and investment opportunities between Asia and other areas of the world in the course of globalization.
To provide intelligent supports for the human resource development and the important research activities on the relationship between this region and other areas of the world.
Forum structure
The forum consists of the plenary session, the council, the consulting committee and the secretariat.
The plenary session
The annual plenary session is the organ with the highest authority of the forum. It is prepared by the forum secretariat. All members will be informed of matters with regard to the meeting one month ahead.
The council
The annual council is the organ with the highest authority for executing the plenary session. It is responsible for the overall supervision and guidance of the forum work. Directors of the council are elected through voting by the formal members of the forum at the plenary session.
The consulting committee
1. The consulting committee is made up of 26 members, selected from some famous former government leaders, entrepreneurs and scholars.
2. Members of the consulting committee will stay in office for 5 years. The period can be extended in case of expiration. The members will not get paid except the entrusted business related to the forum.
3. The consulting committee will hold irregular work meetings in accordance with the need for the forum and advance advice for the business related to the forum.
The secretariat
The secretariat is the standing organ for execution of the council. Duties of the secretariat are listed as follows：
1. Be responsible for the daily business and operation management of the forum；
2. Be responsible for coordination and organization of all meetings including the plenary session and the council meetings；
3. Be responsible for implementing decisions made by the plenary session and the council；
4. Be responsible for preparing the annual work report & the annual budget estimate and submitting them for deliberation of the council；
5. Be responsible for press release of the forum.；
6. Be responsible for raising and operating fund of the forum；
7. Be responsible for drafting or revising the regulation of the forum；
8. Be responsible for relevant service of member recruit, withdrawal and daily liaison；
9. Organize draft and publication of the focal prediction related to the forum business；
10. Be responsible for provision of intelligent resources for the plenary session, the seminar and other specialized meetings of the forum；
11. To provide human resource training for members and other partners；
12. Be responsible for establishing the work network and information exchange center covering the Asian area and the whole world；
13. Be responsible for other operations assigned by the council.
